Kentucky 2015 Corn Production Report

According to NASS, Corn production in Kentucky is estimated at 225 million bushels, down 1 percent from the November forecast and down slightly from the previous crop. Yield is estimated at 172 bushels per acre, down 3 bushels from the November forecast and up 14 bushels from the 2014 level. Acres for harvest as grain are estimated at 1.31 million acres, down 120,000 acres from 2014. The U.S. corn production is estimated at 13.6 billion bushels, down slightly from the November forecast and down 4 percent from the revised 2014 estimate. The average yield in the United States is estimated at 168.4 bushels per acre. This is down 0.9 bushels from the November forecast and 2.6 bushels below the revised 2014 average yield. Area harvested for grain is estimated at 80.7 million acres, up slightly from the November forecast and down 3 percent from the revised 2014 acreage.
